The information in this post is based on Ultimaker Cura 4.7.1. It may or may not be valid for other versions.
As of Cura 4.7.1, the popular Artillery Sidewinder X1 printer is still not supported out of the box. This is my first (and so far only) 3D printer and I'm quite happy with it, but it's always a bit annoying to have to find and install custom profiles when Cura is updated, so I've been stuck on a much older version for a long time.
However, I recently discovered that the Sidewinder X1 works perfectly well with Cura's 'Custom FFF printer' profile as long as you make a few adjustments, like so: Release the gimp.
When you add a printer, choose 'Add a non-networked printer' and then under 'Custom' choose 'Custom FFF printer'.
Then click 'Add', which takes you to the Machine Settings dialog.
Cura 4.4 has no profile for the Artillery Sidewinder X1. Before I can print, I must first add the printer and then import the Artillery factory profile. To add the 3D printer, I click the drop-down icon and selected 'Add printer'. This opens a big list of available printers but there is no Sidewinder X1. ABOUT Who we are. Here you need to change the size (X = 300, Y = 300 and Z = 400) of the printer, tick the checkbox for Heated bed and make sure to set the G-code flavor to 'RepRap'. The rest should be good at defaults, but check to make sure it's set like in this screenshot
Then change to the 'Extruder 1' tab page, where you need to make sure that 'Compatible material diameter' is set to 1.75 mm (it defaults to 2.85 mm). If you use a non-standard nozzle size you will also need to change that here, but in my case the printer had a 0.4 mm nozzle at this time, so I didn't change it:

Update! This blog post covers the latest Cura 4.7 profile installation and setup
I just installed my Artillery Sidewinder X 1 Cura Profile version 4.6 on a new computer. First, I downloaded the Cura 4.6 files from 3D Nexus
After unzipping them, I got the following directories and files inside the 3DN Artillery SWX1 and Genius Cura 4.6.1 Profiles directory folder.
- definitions
- extruders
- materials
- meshes
- quality
- various
.curaprofils
Besides the directories, there were also four .curaprofiles which get added last. Open source audio.

I'm on Linux so the file path for the extracted directories which are listed above are:
/home/your_user_name/.local/share/cura/4.6
The file download is over 30 meg which includes a short video for Windows users.
Artillery Sidewinder X1 Support
Load the CURA software and select the Artillery Sidewinder X1 printer from the available profiles. After the printer loads, go to Preferences > Profiles and start importing the four .curaprofiles and activate the one you most likely use first. More or less, that's it. Happy printing. I love my Artillery Sidewinder X1 3D printer which has worked flawlessly from the day I got it. No upgrades, just Cura profile tweaks.
