Here's our selection of our favorite 11 new synths, sequencers, controllers announced, previewed or released at NAMM 2017.

Here's a compilation of all the articles about free VST plugins that try to emulate the most famous synths, plus links to the freeware plugins that are the only one to recreate a kind of machine (they didn't get an article). Below is a list of best free VST emulations. MVX Synths – AddIt size 3 MB AddIt is an 8 oscillator additive synthsizer with 4 typical waveforms and a dual SVF multimode filter. Takes advantage of its modulation capabilities segmented in.

1. Elektron Digitakt Drum Sampler

Top 5 Must-Have Software VST Synths for Music Producers. It's 2018 and there are literally hundreds & thousands.maybe., of VST synth plugins in the market. Some are free, some are expensive and some cost very little. Not every VST synth is made equal. On some synths, you may find big and usable sounds, right on the get-go.

Top 5 FREE VST Plugins 2017 Part 2. 3 Creative Ways to Use a Synth – Sound. FB-3200 by Full Bucket Music is another free synth software that emulates the sound of Korg PS-3200 vintage analog synthesizer from 1978, available in VST and AU plugin for PC and Mac. This plugin is very close to the original sound of the 70's synthesizer including all the controls from the original unit.

Hardware synth specialists Elektron are aiming to make their latest creation as affordable as possible. Cenk from Elektron takes us through the reasons you should be excited.

2. Dave Smith Instruments Rev 2

Our first video interview at NAMM 2017 was with the legendary Dave Smith who showed us around the new REV 2 and their Pioneer DJ partnership mono analog synth, Toraiz AS-1.

3. PioneerDJ Toraiz AS-1 Monophonic Analog Synthesizer

Not only is PioneerDJ releasing a true analog monophonic synthesizer something of a surprise, but this synth (made by Dave Smith Instruments) features circuits based on the popular Prophet 6! Here's all the info.

4. Modal Craftsynths

What if you could build your own synthesizer for under $100 with no need for any soldering? It's not too good to be true - it exists, and it's called the Modal CRAFTsynth.

5. Teenage Engineering Pocket Operator PO-32

At NAMM 2017 one of our first trips was to the Teenage Engineering booth to check out the innovative new Pocket Operator, PO-32 tonic. Its designer, Magnus Lidström showed us how it works.

6. Soulsby Atmultitron

The Atmultitron was being previewed at NAMM 2017. It is a 6 voice polyphonic 8-bit synthesizer with 3 octave keyboard. The final specification will feature Eurorack connectivity and wavetable sampling from the Oscitron, along with sequencing and versatile modulation routing. The Atmultitron is aimed to be released in mid-2018. So, still a long way to go, but it's great (and unusual) to see a synth in development being showcased before release.

7. Expressive E Touché

We were super excited by the Touché a year ago and our interest hasn't diminished! Touché is a unique expressive instrument that can control both software (VST/AU) and hardware (MIDI/CV) synthesizers. It comes with over 100 presets designed in partnership with UVI and with Lié, Touché's companion software. Lié simplifies mappings between Touché and synthesizers with plugin host functions, as well as configurations for Touché's built-in CV and MIDI outputs.
Touché, Lié and its sounds are available a price of 399€ / 399$.

8. Touch Innovations Kontrol Master

Sketch vs sketchup. We stumbled across the Kontrol Master without a video camera to hand. But the demo the good folks at Touch Innovations gave me was impressive enough for me to definitely include this controller in our top picks from NAMM 2017. Featuring a high precision knob, the KM is designed for unlimited control of all the virtual faders and knobs in your preferred DAW or any other creative software. Simply mouse over what you wish to control and the knob on the KM instantly controls it. No mapping necessary. If you want to ditch your trackpad / mouse completely then this might not be the solution for you. But suffice it to say we were wowed by its ingenious level of control over any on screen parameter without the need for mapping.

Oh, and those arcade style buttons.. very satisfying indeed.

Price: $299

9. Sonicsmith Convertor

A semi modular synth controlled by audio? That's essentially what Sonicsmith Convertor is. The Convertor is Sonicsmith's first and smallest of their synthesizers. With a simple 9V power it can turn analog audio input into analog synth waves and CV outputs. You can input audio from any source, and the demo we got at NAMM was via a microphone. Very cool, very interesting. We're looking forward to giving this a proper test.

The Squaver P1 was also on show and worth checking out. Both synths will be shipping around May 2017 and Squaver P1 will be available in the region of $650, the Convertor $350 USD.

10. Buchla Aux Card for Buchla Music Easel

The Aux Card offers an auxiliary modulation CV source and noise source in low range and a CV/audio oscillator source in high range that can be mixed with the noise source. The noise source also can be filtered. All these parameters are CV controllable. In low range this auxiliary modulation oscillator allows the 208's Modulation Oscillator to assume audio duties and can be used as the modulation source for a variety of uses. In the keyboard bus setting, it provides a tuning reference for your 208 or can be controlled with internal bus capable 218e keyboards.

They have also given you more control with more inputs and added one more pulse input to give you a choice of switchable destinations. They also added switchable control of timbre pot and switches via the 'to card' inputs already on your 208. Did you know you could CV control switch settings? Destinations include the timbre wave shape, the Modulation range, gate source, the VCA LPF mode, the Modulation wave shape and Modulation Variation.

11. Polyend SEQ

Again, our videograper had gone AWOL / was having a well earned rest on the last day of NAMM 2017 when I finally got round to greeting the super innovative guys at Polyend. You may remember their PERC? Well, SEQ is one of those bits of gear you literally don't want to stop playing with. I was close to missing my flight back to the UK because I couldn't tear myself away from SEQ.

'Equipped with a wide array of ins and outs, it allows you to communicate freely with other devices of every era and genre. You can also feed tracks with MIDI notes using your favorite MIDI controller. Every track can be recorded step by step or in real time and then quantized independently.'
'With two MIDI Outs you can connect rhythm and/or sound machines simultaneously. You choose where to send out the signal from every track and if that's not enough, you can also use the USB port for the same purpose.'

This gorgeous piece of hardware is a MIDI Step Sequencer featuring 32 steps, 8 polyphonic tracks and 256 pattern storage slots enclosed within a high quality aluminum and wooden housing. There's so much more to it than that. You'll have to wait until March 2017 to get hands on with a unit and expected retail price will be around £999. So it's not cheap. Fnaf 4 was it me.

1-Togu Audio Line TAL-NoiseMaker
PC, Mac / VST, AU
Being fair with transparency and informative objectivity, we should clarify that NoiseMaker had not yet been officially launched when we were writing these lines, but given that it is an improved development of TAL-Elek7ro – the synth that would have occupied the first position of this List-we feel compelled to put it in its place.

A three-oscillator instrument, NoiseMaker brings a new synthesis engine, more types of filters, a ring modulator and enhancements to its effects and the amplifier's ADSR envelope generator. In short, it's the best synth that Togu Audio Line has developed to date, and it also crowns our list of best-recommended free plug-ins. Damn, if it's free!

2-Green Oak Crystal
PC, Mac / VST, AU
Instead of just offering subtractive synthesis, Crystal goes further and implements FM, granular synthesis, sample playback and even SoundFont banks from Creative Labs. And thanks to its wave sequencing capability, it is great for generating complex texture sounds and Surroundings.

Well, we know you're already an old acquaintance, and it's not as attractive as other new plug-ins, but if you're behind a free synth that really offers you depth, Crystal is hard to beat.

3-Illformed Glitch
PC / VST
Over the years, Glitch has evolved into a sequencing-based effects processor that is able to turn your tracks into an unrecognizable corpse, thanks to its nine effects and filtering section. To do this, divide the audio into 'slices', and allows you to apply different effects.

Glitch is also known to be one of the favorite pieces of breakcore creator # OOPS # mat, so maybe it also deserves your immediate attention.

4-Ichiro Toda Synth1
PC, VST
Your graphics panel will not receive a design award, but Synth1 is based on the Nord Lead 2 hardware synth, and is still one of the best analog-virtual softsintes you can put your claws on.

It implements two oscillators, and the first one shows a potentiometer ‘FM' – the oscillators can be modulated in ring and synchronized with each other (‘Hard Sync'). Other notable features include the unison detune (fantastic for creating supersaw style sounds), effects and an arpeggiator. And the best thing is that despite its powerful sound, Synth1 turns out to be incredibly light for your CPU.

5-UltimateSoundBank UVI Workstation
PC, Mac / VST, AU, RTAS
This instrument was designed as the player for the collections of sounds of UltimateSoundBank, but the fact that it comes with a collection of presets and supports WAV, REX and Apple Loops files, make it worth your attention even if you do not have the purchase planned Of an expansion pack.

It gives you sophisticated editing functions, effects and an arpeggiator, and it looks like an excellent sample player.

6- Magnus Jonsson Ambience PC, Mac / VST, AU
It has been with us for some time, but a good test of the quality of Ambience is that it turns out to be a frequent recommendation when someone asks for a free reverb of good quality.

And this is, of course, because Ambience sounds really luxurious, and that includes a careful selection of presets. It gives you a lot of control and a useful ‘Hold' function.

7-Native Instruments Kore 2 Player / Kontakt 4 Player
PC, Mac / VST, AU, RTAS
As you probably know, Native Instruments produces some of the most select commercial plug-ins on the market, and these two products we describe give you a taste of what this popular company is capable of doing.

Vsts 2017 Download

Kore 2 Player is able to host the many Kore 2 instruments available, but also includes 150 instrument and effect patches (400MB) to boot. Kontakt 5 Player does the same with the Kontakt 5 libraries, and it can also host the Kontakt 5 Factory Selection bank, which contains 50 instruments.

Nor do you miss Reaktor 5 Player and Guitar Rig 5 Player, which are two free entry points to those wonderful applications

8-Voxengo Span
PC, Mac / VST, AU
Span does not generate any sound nor does it serve to process it: it is a plug-in for spectral analysis. But it is one of the most useful free add-ons that you can throw in your face. Span visualizes the frequency content of a channel in order to reveal undesirable frequencies in the most serious range or peaks that you have to take into account.

Its functions make it an important tool for mixing, as it gives you a very precise idea of the equalization settings you need to make.

9-Yellow Tools Independence Free
PC, Mac / VST, AU, RTAS
As you'll discover when you read about all the products on this list, it's often quite common for commercial plug-in developers to offer free cut-outs of their products, but Independence Free stands out from the rest for the size of its sample library. It reaches 2GB of useful sounds, which makes this instrument a heavy weight in itself.

In addition, you can import up to 25 audio files from your crop, and their processing tools contemplate temporary stretching and pitch shifting. It even supports the use of third party VST plugs.

10- NUSofting daHornet
PC, Mac / VST, AU
There is a particularly satisfying feeling in using a free synth that once cost money, and daHornet offers just that. It is based on Electronic Dream Plant (EDP) Wasp, a synthesizer of cult music, and offers dirty and hot filters, unusual surrounds and authentically analogue sound.

New Vst Plugins 2017

Although it fails to emulate some types of sounds, daHornet offers much more than a beautiful appearance, which explains its high popularity
